Flu Season is Approaching

Need to Know

Due to the recent attention given to the Flu in the media, we want to reassure you that Wes-Del Community School Corporation is taking every measure to preserve the health and safety of our students and staff. We believe a great way to protect our students, staff, and community is by educating.

In response to the recent attention given to this outbreak, we will be  showing an educational video to the students concerning good hygiene and cough etiquette.

The Center for Disease Control states, hygiene is the best defense against fighting the spread of infection. Listed are some helpful hints to reinforce with your children to protect them from getting and spreading infection.

1. Wash your hand frequently with warm water and soap. If that is not available, hand sanitizers are a great alternative. We do have hand sanitizers available throughout our schools. We strongly encourage everyone to wash after using the restroom, coughing, sneezing, blowing your nose, before eating, and any other time your hand come in contact with bodily fluids.

2. Avoid touching your eyes and nose.

3. Throw tissues away immediately.

4. Cover when coughing or sneezing with the bend of your elbow instead of your hands.

5. Avoid close contact with people who are ill.

You may want to visit the CDC website if you have other questions not covered in this material.

Signs and symptoms of the flu include the following: • Fever over 100 degrees (always run a fever) • Headache/body aches • Sore throat • Coughing • Runny nose • Chills • Fatigue.   Flu may be accompanied with nausea & vomiting.
